Incredibly beautiful handmade wool folk dress made in the early 20th century somewhere in Eastern Europe, or perhaps Asia Minor. The bodice panel, made of a wonderful silk jacquard, is covered with gorgeous embroidery motifs very similar to those found in Greek and Turkish traditions. The skirt is made from a large panel of very high quality, soft wool melton that has been carefully gathered at the bust line to create marvelous volume and warmth. The dress closes at the back with a single handmade brass hook and eye, and is very easy to get on and off. A beautiful one of a kind piece that styles beautifully for modern wear.

Excellent condition. A few very small threadbare areas in the lower back skirt towards the hem that get completely lost in the drape and are only visible when the fabric is held up to the light. Very strong and wearable.
