1930s Midnight Blue Gold Lamé Trained Gown [xs/sm]
$2,707.00
Truly remarkable 1930s midnight blue hold lamé bias cut trained gown, from the height of silver screen decadence. The material is incredibly unusual: more loosely woven and with larger fibers than some lamés, it is slightly sheer and the weight is almost net-like, with an incredible texture to it that, combined with the gold-purple-red color changing sheen from the metal wrapped fibers, makes the surface of the dress appear like rippling water. The material is also unusual in that, instead of silk the base fiber appears to be a cotton/rayon blend, and this choice very much contributes to the gorgeous textural effect. Beautifully styled with a plunging back, bias cut bodice and draping peplum belt detail. Has a long train at the back for a little extra drama. Perfect for a bridal ensemble (something blue?) or your next black tie event.
Excellent condition. There are a few subtle marks and few pinholes at the hem, all of which is entirely lost in the drape and sheen. When found there was a small hole that had formed from wear where the closures are attached at the back, but we have professionally repaired the area and added extra reinforcement behind closures to prevent further wear. All of this is entirely invisible when worn as it is located at the back waist underneath the peplum. Presents as mint condition.
Note: The lamé fabric, made with real metal wrapped fibers, is a bit "scratchy" to the touch on the inside of the gown. It is not at all extreme, and the problem would be almost entirely solved by wearing a slip underneath, but still worth mentioning as some are more tactilely sensitive.
