1930s Gimbel's Chevron Beaded Bias Cut Gown [sm/med]
£483.00
Absolutely stunning 1930s old hollywood style gown with the best details! Made by none other than Gimbel's, a famous high end English department store thats was well known in the early 20th century for making beautiful custom garments. The bodice is carefully hand beaded with hematite colored glass beads arranged in a striking chevron pattern. The x back straps are also beaded, and arranged in a unique "twist" at the back. It is worth noting here that the straps have been attached in such as way that they can easily be re rearranged to the desired length of the wearer and tacked in place, a testament to the the careful craftsmanship of the garment. The body of the gown is cut on the bias for a perfectly flattering fit, and finished with a mermaid hem. This gown is shockingly modern in its feel, and so, so sexy. Closes at one side with hidden snaps, and has a silk Gimbel's label sewn into the back of the bodice.
Excellent condition. At the lower back skirt there is one tiny period repair, less than half an inch long and nearly invisible. Presents as mint.
