Remarkable 1910s Edwardian silk net and bullion gown in startling shades of gold lamé and chartreuse. I'll say it now: I have never seen anything like this gown. It is like a gold bar and a tulle party dress had a baby, and oh my is the result magical. The entire gown is enveloped in layer upon layer of sheer silk tulle made up of intertwining threads of black and gold. The skirt and bodice are both heavily gathered creating amazing volume and texture. The bustline is detailing with real metal bullion lace interspersed with chartreuse silk threads for a gentle pop of color. Matching bullion lace panels are attached at the waistline, center front of the skirt, and at the back on a long "tail" that sways slightly with movement. The skirt is lined with heavily gathered gold silk taffeta that makes that wonderful "swish" sound with movement. The entire garment is made to the highest standards of craftsmanship, with an exceptionally detailed interior bodice system of silk and net with a petersham waist tape, closing at the center back with two layers of hooks and snaps. Labeled "Mandel Bros Chicago" at the interior waistband. One of the most unusual and truly exceptional pieces to ever pass through the shop- a one of a kind museum quality treasure.

Excellent condition for age with minor notes. There is a very subtle period repair on the underside of one sleeve and a couple small ones at the back of the skirt that get entirely lost in the drape. There are otherwise a few very minor snags in the net of the skirt that again get entirely lost in the fullness. Otherwise there are a couple invisible repairs to the interior netting that are not seen when worn. The inside of the bodice is lined with a supple cream silk and petersham waist tape, both of which are shockingly clean- I believe they may have been replaced in the 1920s/30s. If so, the alteration was incredibly well done with all the original hook closures used- it all looks nearly original. Absolutely incredible condition for a piece of this age and delicacy- presents as mint when worn. 

Note: This piece has not been washed (unlike most pieces offered in the shop) as there is not a safe way to clean this gown, but it is remarkably clean inside and out with minimal to no odor. I would recommend wearing a light slip underneath and to steam/air out after each wear to keep the garment fresh and avoid any need for proper cleaning in the future. This gown should be stored flat so as not to put unnecessary pressure on the shoulders from the weight of the garment.
