Gorgeous late Edwardian white skirt made from the softest china silk. The silhouette of this lovely piece is beautifully articulated with gathering gin the back waist for fullness, and lovely soutache detailing throughout. The hem of the skirt has a lovely mermaid-like flare. Two beautiful silk ribbonwnrk flowers have been applied to the front of the skirt. Closes at the side with hidden snaps and hooks, with a cotton petersham waistband at the interior for support- original woven silk label is still present reading "Spaulding Waterville, ME."

Overall excellent condition. There are some scattered minor marks, one area of light scuffing towards the hem in the front, and a couple small marks at the hem at the back of the skirt. It appears the appliqués were added later (probably in the 1920s or 30s) to cover small stains. The appliqués show some wear and shatter, but present beautifully. Very strong and wearable, silk is soft and supple.
