1960s Irene Galitzene Couture Beaded Floral Jacket [sm/med]
$1,184.00
Incredibly special 1960s entirely hand beaded silk jacket by none other than Irene Galitzene, the Russian princess turned fashion designer famous for the creation of the palazzo pyjama. Her designs have been famously worn by some of the best dressed women in history, including Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren to name just a few! This piece is beautifully made, couture quality, with incredible attention shown to every detail from careful beading (done entirely by hand!) to the hidden snap closures, each individually covered in matching silk with tiny hand stitches. The jacket has a super wide boat neckline that wears beautifully off the shoulder, or centered on the chest. The base of the jacket is a richly colored silk that has a nice weight it, strong enough to handle the weight of the glass beads without being overly delicate. Fully lined in green silk. Labelled Irene Galitzine Roma for I. Magnin, Made in Italy.
Excellent condition. The underarm points have been reinforced invisibly to prevent future wear at the stress point. Some light wear/discoloration in the lining at the back of the neckline, not visible when worn. Presents as mint.
