An absolutely remarkable 1930s gown made of slate blue silver lamé with a woodgrain effect. The styling of this piece is incredibly unusual, drawing heavily on medieval and renaissance styling, recalling silhouettes associated with Shakespeare and the like. It is utterly fantastical, with draping wings that hang down from the sleeves and move with the wearer. It has a long trained skirt, and sculptural braided detailing at the front and back bodice. We have never seen anything like it- absolutely breath taking and a true work of sartorial art.

Excellent restored condition. When found the straps were showing some weakness, so we have reinforced them by backing with matching blue silk, and they are now totally strong and the repairs are entirely invisible. Otherwise just some minor tarnish here and there that gets totally lost in the drape. presents beautifully.
