Description

Absolutely incredible 1930s ice blue-grey rayon crepe gown covered in hundreds of hand set diamanté stones depicting stars! Classic Old Hollywood styling with a slinky bias cut body, gathered bodice and low cut keyhole back. The details on this gown are immaculate, from the beautifully matching diamanté buttons down the back, to the fullness at the back of the skirt and careful attention to interior finishings. The color is unique, standing squarely between a slate grey and an ice blue, and would make for a subtle and striking interpretation of bridal blue. A truly one of a kind piece of whimsical sartorial art.

When the gown was originally made, modesty panels were added with the same fabric at the underarms for more coverage- they were sewn in by hand and would be incredibly easy to take out if a more revealing silhouette is desired. We have left them in place to allow the next owner to decide. If you would like up to remove them please write us a note ad we will be happy to do so before shipping.

Excellent condition. There is some ever so slight discoloration around some of the diamantés on the back bodice, and a subtle mark at the side seam. All notes are incredibly subtle and are not at all noticeable when worn. At Demetra, each garment is thoroughly cleaned, inspected for damage and professionally repaired with nearly a decade of experience in tailoring and working with antique materials. Each garment will arrive clean and ready to wear will little to no signs of age.

Measurements:

Please note that rayon crepe as a material has quite a bit of give, and can often even be stretched with steam. These measurements reflect the current state of the gown, but if more space is needed at the waist or hips, the materials could likely be worked with steam to add as much as 2-3 inches, perhaps even more in the hip. Please contact us with any questions about this.
