1920s Whitework Dress with Silk Ribbonwork [xs/sm]
£813.00
Exquisite early 1920s light as air cotton voile tea dress covered in absolutely incredible hand done whitework embroidery and miles of delicate French lace. Over the years I have had many dresses of this style pass through my hands- but this piece triumphs over all others. It is magnificent in every way, from the quality to the sheer volume of embroideries throughout the entire dress, the beautiful lace tiers, the super wide draping skirt and of course the carefully crafted silk ribbonwork appliqués on the collar and attached belt. Beautifully made with carefully hidden snap closures along the bodice and waistline, as well as an interior petersham waistband for a perfect fit. A true masterpiece, and absolutely bridal worthy.
Excellent restored condition. A few functionally invisible scattered pinholes and tiny lace mends that are nearly impossible to find. When found, the original silk belt was missing, so we authentically recreated it with period correct antique silk ribbons and ribbon work appliqués. Presents as mint.
