1920 Silk and Lace Tassel Tabard [OS]
£317.00
Stunning 1920s ivory silk lace tabard trimmed with soft pink silk details. The body of the gown is made from one large piece of gossamer silk lace cut similarly to a poncho with a central head opening and unique split angel sleeves, entirely open at both sides. The pink silk is used carefully to accentuate and finish the edges of the lace, with handmade pillow tassels moving freely hanging from silk cord at the points of the sleeves and hem. The silk cowl neck has a stunning handmade silk ribbon flower at one side for an extra feminine touch. A very interesting piece from the era, and a great example of experimental fashion in the early 20th century. The sheerness and unique textures make this a perfect layering piece with endless styling possibilities.
Excellent condition with just one tiny functionally invisible repair at back underarm where lace came away slightly from the silk trim. Only real note is that the front and back hem each only have tassels on one corner (right side in the front, left side in the back). It is visually balanced by the opposing sides, but likely originally had tassels on all four corners. In any case, this is not at all noticeable nor does it detract from the beauty of the garment.
