1910s Honeycomb Embellished Tassel Shawl
£834.00
An unusual shawl from the early 20th century, made of a soft cotton bobbinet base exquisitely embellished with cranberry silk embroidery, long draping tassels and marcasite glass beads in a unique honeycomb motif. The design has an incredible sense of texture of scale, the contrasting colors and materials perfectly balanced. Stunning no matter how you wear it, draped across the body like a scarf, or cascading down the shoulders in its full glory.
Excellent restored condition. When found there were some tears in the mesh that we have repaired nearly invisibly with matching cotton bobbinet, as well as touching up some loose areas of beading and embroidery with antique beads and floss. Presents as mint.
