1930s Silk Chiffon Balloon Sleeve Cutaway Gown [xs/sm]

£664.00

Special 1930s primary floral silk chiffon gown with huge balloon sleeves and a unique cutaway style. Super flattering bodice cut with deco lines and a gathered high cowl neckline. The sleeves are heavily gathered at both the shoulders and the cuffs for an especially voluminous balloon sleeve. The skirt is incredibly light and full with fantastic drape. The cutaway style at the front of the gown is unique, and reminiscent of 18th century styles intended to show off exquisite petticoats below the exterior dress shell. Never before have I come across an art deco era counterpart- but the result is magnificent, and a perfect opportunity to show off a favorite slip dress (bias cut adds a slinky sexy element, as shown). Keyhole back, with a crystal glass button closure and hidden snaps at the center back.

Excellent restored condition. When found, the gown had a number of holes at the side/back of the skirt just above the hem. We have perfectly pattern matched the holes with identical material in house in such a way that the holes are now almost impossible to locate, get completely lost in the drape, and are functionally invisible when worn. Otherwise there are a couple very very subtle areas of discoloration in the same area of the repairs that also get completely lost. The gown is in otherwise pristine condition, extremely strong and wearable. Presents as mint when worn.

Please see the video at the end for an example of the repairs we did.
