Unbelievably rare, monumental 1920s fringe shawl made from pink and silk lamé lace with silk velvet swirling art deco appliqués throughout. The work on this piece is just otherworldly, a feast for the eyes in color, texture and sheen. Each swirling tendril is a hand applied piece of panné silk velvet, carefully sewn into place, and individually trimmed with hand couched bullion threads to intensify the graphic effect. The entire ground of the shawl is luxurious silk and metal lace that glitters and shines as it catches the light. The long, multicolor silk fringe adds the perfect dash of drama. This piece has so much potential: it is large enough to by styled as a central part of an ensemble, as well as beautiful enough to be considered a work of art on its own.
