Truly remarkable 1930s handmade gown of bright scarlet spun rayon crochet. Everything about this gown is perfection, from the super voluminous trumpet hem and uniquely styled cold shoulder sleeves to the body skimming effect of the hand crocheted pointelle. This dress was clearly made by a master of her craft with every detail beautifully accounted for, the silhouette perfectly crafted for an incredibly flattering fit. The gown has no closures, but has a huge amount of comfortable stretch allowing for easy on and off, as well as a highly flexible fit. A truly rare, one of a kind piece: this is the only full length crochet or knit gown we have ever seen outside of museums and old pattern imagery.

Excellent condition. Only note is that we refinished the edges of the cuffs in house to make them large enough for a hand to fit through comfortably as they were extremely small when found (this is a handmade garment and small idiosyncrasies like this are not uncommon). We also did two very small repairs to the lower skirt that are entirely invisible. Presents as mint condition.

Measurements:

There is a huge amount of comfortable stretch to the garment and will fit a range of sizes beautifully.

Bust 30-38 in

Waist 24-30 in comfortably

Hips up to 40 in

Shoulder up to approx 15.5 in (no shoulder seam)

Armscye 8-10 in (comfortable stretch)

Length is extremely difficult to measure accurately as the garment hangs differently depending on the measurements of the wearer- we estimate the length to be roughly 54-56 in when worn.

For reference, Ruby measures 32/24/33 and is 5'8".
