1920s Watercolor Floral Silk Chiffon Gown with Gelatin Sequins [xs/sm]
$1,461.00
Nothing short of remarkable 1920s vivid watercolor floral silk chiffon gown with hand applied gelatin sequins adorning the bodice. The use of gelatin sequins here is a stroke of genius, as their iridescent quality converses beautifully with the soft colors and sheerness of silk fabric. Their placement is what takes the piece to the next level by carefully following the lines of negative space in the print, bringing the textile to life in a way I have never seen before. The dense detailing in the bodice is balanced with the ethereal movement in the skirt finished with a heavily layered handkerchief hem. Beautifully made to the highest standards with delicate finishings throughout and a silk chiffon lining in the bodice only. One of the best examples of early silk chiffon to ever pass through the shop, and truly a once in a lifetime piece.
Incredible near pristine condition, essentially unheard of for garment of this nature. There is some extremely subtle underarm discoloration on one side of the lining only that is not visible when worn. Otherwise no damage or signs of wear whatsoever. It seems likely this dress was worn once and then carefully stored for 100 years. Fabric is as soft and supple as the day it was made. Presents as mint.
