circa late 19th century. Originally made to accommodate and engagement set comprised of two bands and a ring.Exterior is covered in paper with an exquisite (and surprisingly real!) leather finish. Lined in silk and silk velvet. Latches closed securely. Shape is quite unique, almost like a violin case. Has a paper label on the bottom has some wear and is hard to read, but denotes it is from a jewelry case manufacturer in Philadelphia. Has significant signs of wear, especially on the interior of the case. General surface wear, discoloration and wear to velvet, interior end paper is peeling and side ribbons are torn/missing. Exterior is in general very nice condition, save paper missing on the back of the box. Presents beautifully! A very rare example.
