1910s Mauve Silk Ribbonwork Princess Slip [xs/sm]
$1,089.00
Incredibly special Edwardian silk princess slip in a stunning and unusual shade of soft mauve exquisitely detailed with hand embroidery and silk ribbonwork depicting bows and swirling florals. This is a very unusual piece- princess slips are almost exclusively seen made from light cotton voile- very rarely (if ever) found in silk, and especially not in such an usual color. Beautifully made with hand finished details throughout including a carefully gathered hemline for a touch of sculptural volume. Trimmed at the neckline and skirt with valenciennes lace interwoven with pink silk ribbons creating a looped effect around the almondine medallions in the skirt. Closes at the center back with a hidden button placket and a ribbon tie at the neckline. Ever so slightly sheer- we recommend wearing this piece with a slip underneath to protect the delicate china silk and reduce any need for dry cleaning. An absolutely exquisite artifact that translates beautifully for modern wear, and a must have for the serious collector of Edwardian fashions.
Excellent condition, one or two minor marks.
