Edwardian Seafoam Wisteria Embroidered Silk Kimono [OS]

Sold Out

Stunning early 1900s seafoam tissue silk with incredible wisteria embroidery done by hand in silk threads. This piece is a beautiful example of the high quality garments that were made in the early 20th century in eastern Asian countries for the western market. It utilizes the incredible techniques and craftsmanship seen in traditional garments, but with a silhouette more suited to a western sensibility. Made in the classic kimono shape, with a straight cut and extra large sleeves. Comes with a matching sash, finished with seafoam silk fringe. Fully lined in tissue silk. A marvelous and wearable piece of art.

Overall excellent condition for age with some minor cosmetic flaws. There is some discoloration to the back of the lining that does not shown when worn, and some small spots and light marks around the collar area on the exterior (please see photos). At the side seam towards the hem, there are two darker brown marks about the size of a quarter each, which are visible, but do visually detract when worn. Presents beautifully and is in strong wearable condition.
