1930s Silk Georgette Kimono Sleeve Gown
Exquisite 1930s couture dressing silk georgette dressing gown. This remarkable gown is entirely handmade to the highest standards of craftsmanship money could buy in the early 20th century. Every element of the garment is sewn by hand, from the heavily gathered neckline to the buttonholes and even down to the seams. The dramatic sleeves are an unusual kimono-inspired shape in French alençon lace and drape beautifully around the wearer. Closes at the front with a series of round crystal buttons, tying at the waist with a monochrome floral silk ribbon used as a belt. An absolutely stunning confection, perfect for swanning around the house, dressed up for an evening out, or as an unforgettable addition to a bridal trousseau.
Excellent condition. A handful of matching antique lace appliqués have been applied by hand throughout to cover a few small scattered marks. At Demetra, each garment is thoroughly cleaned, inspected for damage and professionally repaired with nearly a decade of experience in tailoring and working with antique materials. Each garment will arrive clean and ready to wear with little to no signs of age.
