Utterly incredible 1930s blood red silk lace and chiffon robe that is everything one could possibly ask for in Old Hollywood loungewear. Hovering somewhere between a robe and a gown, this piece is exquisitely made in a wrap style with an interior tie to hold it properly in place and snaps down one side. The sleeves and hem are carefully articulated with many tiers of hand applied silk chiffon creating beautiful texture and volume. The back boasts a long train that trails behind the wearer for that extra dash of drama. This piece is of unmatched quality, entirely sewn and finished by hand, and was certainly a custom made item very likely French in origin. Absolutely exquisite, I am sure I will never see another.

Excellent restored condition. When found, there was a large hole in the lace at the under layer of the waist. We were able to salvage some lace from an inconspicuous spot in the under layer of the skirt, create a patch with extra silk chiffon taken from a bow that was at the neckline, and fix the hole at the waist which is now entirely invisible. The chiffon patch can be seen in the last photo for reference, but it is professionally done and does not show when worn as it is on the interior layer of the skirt. Otherwise we have done scattered invisible mends to the lace that are functionally invisible (there may be a couple tiny pinholes that we have missed but nothing noticeable), and a few scattered repaired holes in the chiffon mostly at the hem and one at the sleeve (largest is less than 1/2") using excess matching chiffon. There are a few scattered subtle marks but nothing in particular to note. After a full restoration the gown is now in absolutely incredible condition, ready to wear, and presents beautifully. Please note this gown should be worn with care as it is delicate by nature. (note: the extra chiffon pieces will be included with purchase in case of need for any repairs in the future)

Note:

This gown has not been cleaned and should only be entrusted to a dry cleaner with extensive knowledge of antique garments. However, it has no odor and presents very very cleanly and frankly does not need washing. We would recommend wearing this with a slip or bodysuit underneath to protect the material and eliminate the need for any cleaning in the future. The dress can be safely steamed with care, and should be stored flat.
