Description

Unbelievably rare and special 1920s monochrome ivory knit coat made of the most exquisitely textured material unlike anything we have ever seen before. The body of the coat is made from a cut and sew machine knit with geometric art deco pile patterns that is extremely lush and soft to the touch. The collar and large cuffs are densely made with chenille and pile threads in a rich organic foliage pattern. Closes with two molded celluloid buttons, one at the neck and one at the hip, but wears beautifully hanging open- the knit fabric drapes wonderfully. A nice medium weight, great for laying in the colder months of winter, or as a perfect light jacket in spring and fall. One of the very best pieces of early 20th century knitwear we have ever seen, in or out of museum collections- a must have for the serious collector and so incredibly wearable!

Excellent condition. We did a handful of small entirely invisible mends that are entirely lost in the texture, as well as replacing the thread bar closures. Presents as mint.
