A remarkable time traveler: this blouse was masterfully custom made in the 1960s out of original antique Fortuny fabric c1910s-1920s. The simple but supremely elegant shape of the blouse, although totally classic 1960s in style, lends itself beautifully to the textural masterwork of Fortuny. The boat neck is cut very wide so that it falls off the shoulder, with a V cutout at the center neckline. The blouse is constructed not unlike a bustier with 4 pieces of boning (2 in the front, and 2 in the back) giving the garment a light structure. Fully lined in silk, and closes at the back with a hidden series of hooks and snaps. The interior of the garment tells us everything we need to know about the master craftsman who create this artifact: it is meticulously finished by hand, absolutely stunning in its precision. Whether to wear or to collect, this garment is truly a time traveling piece of fashion history- how I wish I knew its story. The blouse bears no labels.
