Demetra's Floral Silk + Lace Appliqué Gown [sm/med]
Incredibly beautiful 1930s silk crepe back satin gown in a vivid art deco floral print that has been painstakingly restored by Demetra. When found, the gown had damage at the front of the chest, which we have eliminated by added an antique floral lace appliqué by hand with cutwork behind to create a sheet effect. The appliqué blends beautifully with the print adding a lovely textural moment. The gown is cut on the bias with fullness in the skirt for a fishtail hem. Finished with a sexy strappy back that wears like a halter neck. An absolutely stunning example of Old Hollywood glamour and elegance
This one of a kind garment is a Demetra Revival restoration: a rare but wounded treasure given new life in the Demetra studio using professional tailoring skills, heirloom techniques, and historically accurate materials. It bears a Demetra label, carefully sewn into the interior. This garment is now in excellent to pristine condition, with little to no evidence of wear: there are some subtle marks at the side seam towards the hem that get entirely lost in the busy pattern. Presents as mint when worn.
