1900s Sawtooth Lace Empire Dressing Gown [xs/sm/med]
$936.00
An absolute treasure of an early 20th century Edwardian cotton dressing gown complete with the most exquisite of details. The wide neckline and cuffs are finished with a bold, large scale sawtooth lace extremely reminiscent of Georgian empire gowns of the 1810s, 1820s and 1830s. Large puffed sleeves follow the same Georgian reference, with the addition of seafoam silk ribbons at the cuffs, neckline and empire waist for a classic Edwardian note. Somehow, despite layer upon layer of historical reference, when all is said and done this gorgeous dress feels exceptionally modern, a marvelous statement piece that will quickly become a summer favorite. Closes at the center front with ribbon ties and a series of mother of pearl buttons.
Excellent restored condition. A 1.5 inch hole along the side seam about 12 inches up from the hem has been repaired professionally using antique cotton material, and there is a very small yellowish mark next to this repair. All of the silk ribbons have been replaced with era appropriate antique ribbons as the originals were missing when found. Otherwise excellent condition and presents beautifully.
