Demetra's Ombré Silk Angel Sleeve Appliqué Wrap [xs/sm/med]

An absolutely remarkable 1930s ivory silk satin wrap with a pink hand ombré dyed hem, incredibly voluminous angel sleeves, floral embroideries and hand applied lace appliqués that has been painstakingly restored by Demetra. When found, the gown was covered in staining, holes and small tears throughout. After being carefully cleaned by hand, the gown was transformed in our studio with 45+ hours of hand sewing and countless lace appliqués using authentic 1930s lingerie laces and silk threads from our extensive materials library. The result is an exquisite cascade of delicate lace florals throughout, supremely romantic with a touch of whimsey. The body of the robe is cut on the bias for a soft, curve hugging fit that is only enhanced by the deco lines of the back and the raglan sleeves. The lace appliqués of the sleeves have cutwork behind creating a sheer effect. Delicate floral embroideries in pastel pink and blue frame the laces, with matching silk threads used to finish the hand scalloped edges. An utterly incredible example of the very best loungewear money could buy in the early 20th century. Because of the cut it can easily be worn as a wrap dress as well as a robe. This remarkable treasure would make for an unforgettable bridal look. 

This one of a kind garment is a Demetra Revival restoration: a rare but wounded treasure given new life in the Demetra studio using professional tailoring skills, heirloom techniques, and historically accurate materials. It bears a Demetra label, carefully sewn into the interior. This garment is now in excellent to pristine condition, with little to no evidence of wear. Some light markings remain here and there in inconspicuous areas, all of which get entirely lost in the drape and sheen of the silk. Presents beautifully.
