1940's Lucie Ann Silk Chiffon Lace Appliqué Gown [xs/sm]
$898.00
An unbelievably beautiful and incredibly rare example of the very early work of the prestigious lingerie company Lucie Ann, which became very famous in the 1950s for their feminine peignoir sets. Founded right after the end of World War II in 1947, for only the first few years they produced incredible custom made couture quality lingerie in the art deco style in luxury silks. By the early 1950s, the company had entirely switched over to machine made garments constructed from synthetic materials, still beautiful and very collectible, but incomparable in quality to their earlier designs. This gown is a very rare example of the utterly remarkable early work of the label- this is only the second piece from this era of Lucie Ann we have ever come across, and truly they are some of the most beautiful lingerie gowns we have ever had. This piece is entirely hand sewn even down to the seams, with an unusual mix of deep, inky black chiffon and a lighter black-brown-olive silk charmeuse that adds a gorgeous contrast. Finished with silk lace through the bodice, and exquisite braided silk straps. An absolutely incredible relic of early 20th century lingerie design that translates seamlessly into modern sultry elegance.
Excellent condition. A tiny hole (less than 1/4") at the side seam waist level has been covered in house with an antique silk lace floral appliqué and blends into the design beautifully. Presents as mint.
