1930s Blueberry Silk Chiffon Capelet Gown [med/lrg/xl]

Incredible 1930s silk chiffon gown in a fabulous abstracted art deco blueberry print. The design on this gown is very unusual- it has a double layered bodice. The cross-front capelet effect is achieved with a second layer of chiffon attached only at the front waist that goes over the head and drapes freely at the back over the underbodice on the main body of the dress. The effect is amazing, the capelet fluttering beautifully with movement as it is unburdened by the weight of the rest of the dress. The skirt is cut with simple but elegant deco lines, and drapes wonderfully as you walk. Black lace appliqué details create a beautiful textural and color contrast on the bodice. Comes with the original belt, and closes at one side with hidden snap closures.

Excellent restored condition. When found, there were many small holes on the back of the underbodice and capelet. These holes have been carefully treated to prevent worsening, and then covered with hand applied, period correct lace appliqués in house. The effect is marvelous, and the gown is now very strong and ready to wear. The only note is a few scattered pinholes remaining only on the underbodice that have been carefully treated, and are invisible when worn as they are covered by the capelet. Presents as mint.
