Absolutely incredible 1920s capelet made from cotton bobbinet entirely hand embellished with glass seed beads a gelatin sequins depicting abstracted anemones in sparkling greyscale and metallic shades. Almost certainly French made, it seems likely that this incredibly labour intensive panel was originally destined to be the skirt of a dress, but a creatively thinking individual in the 20s decided to take it in another direction, finishing the edge with silk to make this stunning capelet. The result is incredible and decidedly unique, wearing beautifully as an outfit topper or even as a blouse with high-waisted bottoms. A rare treasure and the perfect dash of sparkle for the holidays.

Excellent condition. There are a handful of nearly imperceptible pinholes and tiny repairs in the mesh (largest 1/4 in), and some very small age marks that are almost entirely invisible when worn. Presets beautifully.
