Rare and collectible 1920s Egyptian revival pendant necklace made in 14k gold with jade, pearl and multicolor enamel accents. In the 1920s and 30s, following the rediscovery of King Tut's tomb in 1922, there was massive widespread interest in Ancient Egyptian design archetypes that lead to the inception of the Egyptian Revival movement, which touched everything from housewares to clothing and everything in between, notably jewelry. This necklace is a rare example of fine jewelry from the movement, as opposed to the much more common costume jewelry counterparts. The pendant is absolutely stunning, with a unique color palette created by the contrast of the jade stones and rich orange and lime enamel. The silhouette has a distinctly art nouveau influence, while remaining true to its Egyptian inspiration. Note the carefully articulated frond shaped bale from which the pendant hangs that is a direct draw from Greco-Egyptian architectural elements. 

Excellent condition. Marked 14k, has an unidentified maker's mark.
