In the late 1800s into the early 1900s, sterling silver "puffy heart" charms were hugely popular gifts for a young man to give to his sweetheart. These charms, hollow and "puffy", came in all sizes and shapes with different designs pressed or engraved into the metal, some with enamel detailing, small stones, and beyond, often personalized with the name of a loved on one side. Sometimes, the charms were even functional lockets as well! This remarkable necklace is an assemblage of 17 unique puffy heart charms mounted on truly incredible engraved Victorian sterling book chain (probably dating to the 1870s-1880s). This wearable work of art could have been put together any time after the early 1900s, but it was likely made by a creative mind in the 1930s or 40s, when dangling charm necklaces were quite popular. This necklace is exceptional, totally one of a kind, a beautiful token of love and affection.

Excellent condition. Light wear to some of the charms- one is missing a bit of enamel. Presents beautifully.
