Fantastic 1920s enormous silk piano shawl printed with a gorgeous Indian paisley inspired design. In the mid to late 1800s, hand woven wool paisley shawls from India were all the rage in Europe and America. Any fashionable woman during the period would have owned at least one, even as their styles changed over the decades. By the 1920s, these wool shawls would have been frightfully out of style- something you mother or grandmother would wear. This gorgeous printed example has a cheeky trompe l'oeil effect when viewed in regard to its predecessors! An incredible striking and unusual shawl.

Excellent condition, only note is some scattered small and light marks in the white perimeter of the shawl in a few areas. Very minor, and gets totally lost when worn. No holes or tears, the silk is strong; presents beautifully.
